Shrimpy (aka Kaan Duzarat)
Born in Eskisehir, Turkey in 1980, Kaan met music at a very early age by taking piano and guitar lessons. Playing guitar and singing with his high school rock band was his first step to performing. At 14, while he was hosting his own rock radio show, he realized that his interests were starting to lean towards electronic music and DJing and he started playing in high school parties.
With the advancement of the personal computer, he started gathering all the information he could reach and started playing around with various virtual studios. The turning point came in 2003 when he started working for Istanbul’s electronic music radio station, Dinamo 103.8 (www.dinamo.fm). Between the years 2004-2006, he hosted “Together” parties at Club Crystal every Thursdays with Fuchs, Agentorange, Subsky, Muzo B, Barish Turker, Yunus Guvenen. He also shared the booth with DJs such as Carl Craig, Francois K, Radio Slave, MANDY, Phonique, Booka Shade, Locodice, Martin Buttrich, Justus Köhncke, Justin Martin, Erol Alkan, Simon Harrison, Alex Gopher, Makossa & Megablast, Anton Kubikov, Ascii Disco, Tangun, Cure-shot.
He is producing and playing music under the name “Shrimpy”. He is also part of Two Blonde Guys (w/Fuchs) and Pair of Dirty Shoes (w/Fattish). He has weekly radio shows called “Kompozit”, “Snooze Groove” and “Vesvese OnAir” on Dinamo 103.8 and he hosts 34BPM Show on Proton Radio (www.protonradio.com) with Fuchs, Subsky, Barish Turker and Muzo B on a monthly basis. He is one of the resident DJs of 11:11 in Istanbul and also hosting “Sali Sallanir”, which means “Tuesday Swings” at Otto Asmalimescit every Tuesday. He sounds like House, Techno, Dub influenced by Swing, Reggae, Funk, Jazz. He’s been running a studio called “Nooniki” (www.nooniki.com) with Omer “Ruffkutz” Ozyilmazel and they’ve been producing music for TV/Radio ads since 2005. He is studying music at Istanbul Bilgi University, and getting ready to launch the collective label called “Vesvese” from Istanbul.
